Baby Chicks In Our Classroom!!
It was pure excitement in the Frogs classroom earlier this week when some baby chicks visited the students! An MNCS student did a chick-hatching project recently and students in the Frogs class were so excited to get to see the fluffy baby chicks, pet them, and hear their peeping chirp sounds. So cute!

MARKET DAY!!!
Students in the Komodo Dragons class recently had the opportunity to learn how to run a business for Market Day! Students developed their businesses after discussing ideas and strategy. Many worked with a business partner brainstorming and developing what creative goods they would sell and how to produce them with the cost. Students made handmade crafts and worked on the project for a month before presenting for Market Day last Thursday! Students not only had the chance to sell items, but also to shop around with their classroom paper money. The products students created were amazing- ranging from selling wood-burned carvings, colorful coasters, jewelry/bracelets, boat crafts and hydro-dipping, and even slime! What a fun way to learn and immerse students into the world of entrepreneurship!

Educational Escape Room!!
The clock started, let the adventure begin! Students in the Critter's classroom participated in a classroom escape room right before spring break. Escape rooms are a playful and motivating learning method where students are able to develop and utilize skills such as logic, communication, and TEAM SPIRIT! Students solved the puzzle, completing the challenge in time and was a fun way to learn and think outside of the box!

Just in time for SPRING...MNCS Elementary student with a BABY CHICK!! One of our students did a school chick-hatching project which involved fertilized chicken eggs in a classroom incubator. It was amazing to see how the chick hatched, pecking its way around the shell and the process of the life cycle! This was such an awesome project for observing a real-world aspect of biology!

ENCORE!!! More pictures from the recent "Wizard of Oz" performance this past week! Congratulations to everyone on a wonderful show!

What a show!! MNCS Elementary performed "The Wizard of Oz" last Friday with Prairie Fire Children's Theatre. We thank all of our students for their hard work, our student's families who helped throughout the process, and our MNCS staff and community members! Everyone helped to make it a special day of performances to remember!

Update!! The Leprechaun visited the Frog Class after they made traps last week. Unfortunately, they did not catch him! The Leprechaun did leave a trail of green sparkles in his path and was such a fun project for students! The legend lives on...maybe next year!😁☘️

The MNCS Archery Team traveled to Becker MN for the MN South Region 3 NASP Tournament on March 19th. Three students PR'd and Emmett Ische got 3rd Place out of 121 high school boy archers.
Congratulations to Emmett and all of our athletes who participated!

Excel energy cut down 6 ash trees on the property Friday. Seven students worked really hard all day to help load 6 trailers full of brush and unload it at the compost site in Henderson!

A collage of photos from Presentation night!

A sneak peak...

How To Catch a Leprechaun!
Students in the Frogs classroom celebrated the St. Patrick's Day holiday yesterday by creating "Leprechaun Traps"! Students were excited to think of ways to outsmart a Leprechaun with a project that used brainstorming, inventiveness, and engineering! Some students had a series of ropes and obstacle courses galore! Others used cups and creatively thought of mechanisms that would feature the cup flipping over and trapping the elusive Leprechaun! Some used colors and paint to lure and aid in entrapment. It was a day of engineering masterpieces and a fun lesson that excited students with the holiday spirit!

Happy St. Patrick's Day from MNCS Elementary! It was a sea of green throughout the halls of MNCS Elementary today, students and staff sporting their festive St.
Patrick's Day attire. Two of our paraprofessionals represented the day in true holiday spirit! To all of our MNCS families, may your day have been filled with a little luck and lots of happiness!

Reminder! Tomorrow, March 17th is the food share at MNCS high school at 4:00pm. The following one will be Thursday, April 21st.

Adam Herd's class and Mrs. K took elementary students to the High School to work on an awesome ceramics project! Students had fun exploring and experimenting with the clay, making all sorts of incredible ceramic art!

In celebration of Dr. Suess' birthday on March 2nd, students in the Frogs classroom celebrated with fun dress-up days this week! This past Tuesday was "Fox in Socks" day where students wore silly mismatched socks! What a fun way to celebrate a beloved classic!
