A Swan student presented their "Project: Me!" to the class yesterday. Students were able to learn about the the fluffy and friendly dog and ask all sorts of questions. They enjoyed petting it's fluffy coat and the dog loved all the hugs from students! Great job to our student and what an awesome project!

Happy Thursday MNCS families!
We have heard that some families were not aware of our early release yesterday so we would like to remind everyone that our school calendar is posted on our website and our announcements are sent out every Tuesday through email. If you would like a paper copy of the calendar please reach out and we can get you one. Please also let us know if you are not receiving the weekly announcements email.
Thank you - have a wonderful rest of the week!

Students in Cory and Reta's class were able to enjoy a classroom escape room last Friday! They were part of a top secret mission to find the secret code relying on their skills, knowledge, problem solving expertise, and teamwork! With elements of math and logic, the countdown was on and students enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon trying to beat the clock and solve the challenge!

What a great day of project based learning! Students enjoyed the finished product of what they had made and was a delicious "Apple Day" at MNCS Elementary!

What better way to spend a fall day than teach our students how to make Apple Crisp and Applesauce! The lesson incorporated both elements of science and math in the baking and cooking process. Students learned how to accurately measure precise amounts and compare amounts with the ingredients. The best part was taste testing their delicious creations!

More contour masterpieces in progress! Students adding oil pastels to their contour art projects...

Students in Mrs. K's art class worked on their contour art projects yesterday! They painted a backdrop with watercolors and were each given a set of leaves to draw the inside and outside contour, looking at the details of the shapes and lines. They were then able to use oil pastels to color and accentuate the leaves uniqueness with different colors and textures.

A Scavenger Hunt in Henderson!
Students in the Woodland Critters class have been learning about "community" and participating in experiences and projects to bring the concept to life! They recently participated in a scavenger hunt in Henderson, visiting many of the local businesses. What a fun day of learning and exploring and MNCS is so grateful for our local Henderson community!

One of our students shared a glimpse of the project she is working on where she is growing bacteria from different swabs around the school. She also has a microscope so you can see the bacteria close up. So neat!

Students investigated the science of sound today in Mrs. K's class! They learned that sound is a mechanical wave that requires a medium to be conducted. They used paper cups and string to represent this. They discovered that the string was the medium for conducting sound through vibrations and had fun experimenting with other classmates!!

The Swans class had fun meeting a student's mule and donkey today named Hank and Willy! It was part of a project called "Project: Me!" where students could tell anything about themselves and their life and present it to the class! As part of one of our Swan student's presentation, students were able to learn about the animals and to ask all sorts of questions. They enjoyed petting the animals and some were able to feed them apples. What an awesome project!
