Happy St. Patrick's Day from MNCS Elementary! It was a sea of green throughout the halls of MNCS Elementary today, students and staff sporting their festive St. Patrick's Day attire. Two of our paraprofessionals represented the day in true holiday spirit! To all of our MNCS families, may your day have been filled with a little luck and lots of happiness!

Reminder! Tomorrow, March 17th is the food share at MNCS high school at 4:00pm. The following one will be Thursday, April 21st.

Adam Herd's class and Mrs. K took elementary students to the High School to work on an awesome ceramics project! Students had fun exploring and experimenting with the clay, making all sorts of incredible ceramic art!

In celebration of Dr. Suess' birthday on March 2nd, students in the Frogs classroom celebrated with fun dress-up days this week! This past Tuesday was "Fox in Socks" day where students wore silly mismatched socks! What a fun way to celebrate a beloved classic!

Math students had a blast figuring out a math problem called 31-derful! It's a bit like sudoku and after one hour they did it! Team Stephanie, Pancake and Sheets solved the 31-derful challenge. It's tough and so is this team. Woot woot!

MNCS Nuts and Bolts is back in action!!!  We are going to do the Flower Power Fundraiser again! Are you dreaming of warmer weather, springtime, and sunshine? So are we! Planning a garden is a really great way to pass the time when it's cold out. Who doesn't love to look at photos from a garden catalog and dream of how great everything will smell and taste when it's in your very own yard?  This year, Nuts + Bolts is hosting an online fundraiser with Flower Power Fundraising. All proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit MNCS. You can help us grow by planting some things that grow --- pretty great, right? MNCS Kindergarten Round-Up is right around the corner! If you have a child who will be entering Kindergarten, or if you know of someone who does and is interested in enrolling into our MNCS Kindergarten class for the 2022-2023 school year, this is the time and place to meet the teacher, tour the school, and receive more information! Happy 100th Day of School!!! MNCS Elementary students had fun dressing up to look 100 years old in celebration of this milestone- the 100th day of school at MNCS for this year! This is how awesome 100 looks! What a great day and a great group of students! Happy 100th day from MNCS Elementary...and here's to many more!

Henderson Area Food Distribution Thursday, March 17 at 4:00pm

MNCS Elementary students in Mrs. K's class have been working with pastels in art, drawing the intricate details of the eye. In science they are also learning about how the eye works!

Students in the Frogs classroom also handed out candy and Valentine gifts to fellow classmates! Happy Valentine's Day to all our students and their families from MNCS!

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue... In the spirit of Valentine's Day, elementary students in the Critter's class enjoyed exchanging special Valentine cards, candy, and festive toys with fellow MNCS friends!

Jim, Jennifer & Jake’s community had a Valentine's pancake breakfast and fun games this morning!

The High School students enjoyed learning how to wet felt and needle felt wool today - Jean Ische did an amazing job at teaching the class! They then got to go on a tour of the St. Peter Woolen Mill, lead by Ben Malloy. What a creative and fun day!

We are so excited to welcome Ashley Poppler to the MNCS Staff!!! "Hello everyone! My name is Ashley Poppler and I am the new Admin Assistant at the High School. I grew up in Belle Plaine and have been living in Le Sueur since 2017 with my significant other and our 3 fur babies. I'm so excited to be a part of the MNCS team and look forward to getting to know everyone!"

Rock the Boat- 3D with Mrs. K! Students in the Critters classroom recently enjoyed working on an art project, hand-crafting and painting boats! Artistically styled with paint and texture, shapes, form, color, and creativity! Many students had names for their boats, created captains/passengers, sea-life friends, and shapes- including a boat of hearts! This project inspired imagination and most of all- FUN!

Sewing is a life skill! On the last day before block break, students in the Komodo Dragons classroom learned and practiced their sewing skills crafting fabric mice! Learning to sew teaches MANY skills. Students exhibited fine motor skills, symmetry and measurement, design principles, and among the many others- CREATIVITY! Each fabric mouse was uniquely made, sewn mindfully and envisioned creatively by each student who had fun making them! We hope all MNCS families are having a wonderful block break and will see you soon when school resumes!

We have a new staff member - Welcome Katie Vander Ploeg!!! "Hello MNCS families! My name is Katie Vander Ploeg, and I am the new advisor for the 2nd grade Woodland Critter elementary classroom. My husband and I just moved to Mankato from Iowa, where I worked as a Title 1 Reading teacher for several years. I'm so excited to get to know everyone!"

​Due to the impending winter storm, Minnesota New Country School will be closed tomorrow, January 14th, 2022. It's been a tough week on us all, so please use the time to stay home with your families. Rest and recover everyone so we can see each other soon. Also, a special goodbye and thank you to Joan Skelly. We'll miss you.
