COVID 19 Updates and Reminders

12/07/20

Greetings MNCS Families, from your Covid-Coordinator Team,

Hopefully all is well with your families as we all work to navigate this unusual holiday season. Thank you for your patience and assistance with the transition to distance learning; we’ll continue to make improvements in our efforts to provide support and educational opportunities for our students as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

We have a couple of quick updates/reminders to share with everybody.

  1. We’re continuing to monitor local COVID case activity and consult with our MDH Regional Support Team in hopes of returning to hybrid or in-person learning in mid-January. It is too early to say if we will be able to make a switch at that time or not. There are several factors that go into the decision to switch learning models; local case numbers are only a part of that decision. We will keep you posted as we continue to monitor the situation. Please remember that under the state’s safe learning plan, learning model decisions are made at a school level, and what MDH advises for us might not look the same as what happens in other local schools or districts.

  1. We ask that families continue testing students if COVID symptoms arise, or if students are in close contact with positive COVID cases. If a student does test positive for COVID-19 during distance learning, we would appreciate it if families would still notify us via the covid19@newcountryschool.com email address. A confirmed positive test now could impact our quarantine and contact tracing situations when we do make the return to hybrid/in-person learning. We’ve included a list of two free community testing facilities in our region below, plus a link to more community test site info.

That’s all for now. We will continue to keep you updated as we head into the new year. As always, if you have any questions or need to report a positive case, please send it to: covid19@newcountryschool.com

Thank you again for your support and patience during this difficult time.
